Pick Me Ups

Goodbyes suck. There's pretty much no way around how much they suck. Although I'm beyond happy about my decision to move to the city, having to say bye to the people I love is a downfall that I'm still coping with (duh, it's only been 4 days). The good news is that I'm in a city that has constant little reminders to stay positive and that there's love all around. Below are a few little pick me ups that have helped me out of my goodbye funk and will hopefully bring a smile to your face! Happy Tuesday!

And remember, it's never goodbye...it's see you later!

Made the Move

Hey everyone!

I know it’s been a while since I last posted, but I figured I’d share some pretty exciting news. I decided to make the move to the BIG apple! There were definitely many factors that went into this decision, but the driving force was my life long dream of actually making it and surviving in the city on my own (also, the fact that I want to be Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada). I was a bit hesitant to make the move because of the fact I’d be so far away from my family (and Publix and Chicken Kitchen and Whisk) but I reasoned with “hey, it’s just like leaving to college…only this time, I’ll be paying”. For now, I will be staying at one of my best friends apartment in the Lower East Side until I get a job and apartment of my own. I plan on posting about this adventure way more frequently (I’ve said that the last three posts) and hope to entertain you all with my successes and failures and celebrity run-ins – oh, and of course the colors of the week! WOOOOO Polish&Pistachios takes New York!

Wish me luck on the subway

- Sophie

Mardi Party

Hellooo! This past weekend I went to New Orleans with my friends to celebrate Mardi Gras. The getaway was therapeutic and much needed. New Orleans is by far one of my favorite cities; the people are so friendly, the food is delicious/very different from what I normally eat, and don't even get me started on the drinks. I hope you're all stuffing your faces (since it's Fat Tuesday) and are having a great day! Below are a few of my favorite moments of the trip. Enjoy!

Festival Overload

It has been months since the last time I went to a festival and this weekend I got my fix by going to not one, but three! Festivals are such a great way to get a feel for different cultures and communities. The three festivals I went to were all so different yet so much fun!

The first festival I went to was FSUs Halloween Festival. Being a senior and getting closer and closer to graduation has made me turn into an emotional wreck so you can only imagine how sensitive I was being around the heightened school spirit. Not only was there free food and rides, there was also free pottery painting! Since my roommate and I got there rather late, only the not so cute figures were up for grabs. We attempted to make them cute, but failed tremendously. I guess it worked out in the end since they came out so hideous that they fit the Halloween theme.

{I apologize in advance if these two lovely ladies give you nightmares}

The second festival was the downtown First of the Month Festival. This festival was in one of the cutest areas of Tallahassee. Every kiosk had it's own little unique niche. I also learned how to make incredible kettle corn popcorn!

{homemade bread}

{carrot cake}

{I've never liked cats but I grew to love this little one}

The third festival was The Greek Festival. I absolutely loved this festival! So many people came together to celebrate Greek heritage with songs, ethnic dances and amazing food.

Hope you all had a great weekend! Below is the color of the week:

I'M BACK

ALLOW ME TO REINTRODUCE MYSELF

MY NAME IS

So aside from being embarrassed about not having posted in over 8 months, I am extremely excited to start up my blog again. Hopefully, this time around I'll actually stick to it and post regularly. For those of you who don't know me, I'll give you a little recap of what's been going on in my life for the past few months:

- I completed my Junior year of college and am now a Senior (I'm pretty sure I've been going through some sort of mid-life crisis...I never want to grow up!)

- I spent the summer in New York Citaaayy interning for the one and only, MTV!

- I am still in love and crazy about my boyfriend Magueeeezy (2 years and 7 months going strong babe!)

Alright, so this past week I was a part of something pretty cool. I was asked to work the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles, California. Brushing shoulders with the biggest names in the music industry was an experience of a lifetime. Here are some pictures of the event and venue. Also below is the color of the week!

New Year

Helloooo! I know, I know...I haven't written in years! For some reason I was going through kind of a writers block and just stopped cold turkey. Its okay though because its 2012 and one of my resolutions is to write a blog at LEAST once a week! I hope I'll stick to it! Anyway, new years is all about improving yourself, so of course I made a list of improvements I need to make in my life (and let me tell you, my list was pretty long). Along with exercising and eating healthier (the obvious resolutions) I added a few others that I decided to share with you below. I hope you all had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year! 2012 is going to be a GREAT year (DUH...since I'll be posting more often! hahha)

1. {organize&maintain room organized}- I don't know about you, but I have never been one of those anal people that have to have everything extremely in order...so for one of my resolutions I decided I'd try it out.

2. {drink green tea every day} - Random resolution, I know...but over the break me and Dr. Oz had a lot of bonding time and I decided to stick to this one tip he gave me (I like to think he's talking to me directly). Let me tell you...best decision ever. Green Tea is seriously so good for you and it tastes amazing too. I like to add a little lime to mine to wake me up in the morning (since I cut out coffee from my daily routine).

3. {save some muunaaayy} - This is one of those resolutions that are too broad and that's why its so hard to actually stick to. So for this year instead of just putting down 'save money' as one of them I decided to narrow it down to save $20/week that way its doable and its something you can keep up with.

{obvs not my pic}

4. {write a a blog at least once a week} BEST RESOLUTION EVER

5. {maintain nails painted at all times} It's obvious I love nail polish...but from time to time I'll let it ride for too long and my nails start to chip...and that just looks bad. I know this sounds dumb but having your nails done shows your a put together person..ask any guy! So without further ado, here is the first 2012 color of the week!
